Is 20 too early to start an anti-aging regimen?
Stylist Cassie read a great article on Refinery 29’s website and wanted to share it with our guests.
Dr. Marko Lens, a celebrated dermatologist and founder of skincare brand Zelens MD, suggests avoiding the words “lifting and firming” on any skin-care labels because they often contain a high concentration of peptides, which stimulate collagen production and cellular turnover.
This is great for someone in their 30s or 40s, but can actually put skin cells into overdrive and lead to major irritations in younger skin.
Dr. Lens explains:
“Think of anti-aging moisturizers as being heavy in fat; they will cause outbreaks on oil-prone skin.”
Many experts agree that 25 is the age you should start incorporating a couple anti-aging products into your routine. Some products to include are:
- Eye Creams
- An exfoliation step
- Start with antioxidants and move to salicylic acid and PHAs
- Always wear an SPF
